Booklets & eBooks
If you’ve been hanging out with us online for a while now, you’ll know that we’re in the business of content creation: creating beautiful images, filming effective brand videos, writing witty social media captions and crafting EDMs and newsletter sequences for our long list of clients.
What you MAY not know is that we do a lot of design work as well. We’ve got loads of logo, website and flyer design work in our portfolio - but we’ve decided to keep a bit low-key for the time being given that content creation is our main focus rather than digital design. That said though, our retainer clients know that they can shoot us an email saying “please design this for us!” and we’ll get it done.
So when we get requests for design work, particularly eBooks and brand books, we get pretty excited… It’s the exact type of fun design work we love to work on.
But what’s the difference between a brand book and an eBook?
Brand Books are documents (can be digital or hard copy) that showcase what your business is all about while eBooks add value at some level: enlightening, teaching, educating or even entertaining. The former is great as an introduction to your business while the latter is the ideal value offer that you can use to grow your EDM database.
With one recent project just wrapping up at the printers, we thought we’d round up some of our eBook and brand booklet design work to show you what we’ve quietly been working on in the background.
This is a brand booklet we designed for RAW NATURE (all copy, content and imagery by Shout & Co.!).
The brief was very simple: create a BEAUTIFUL brand book that showcases the brand ethics, range and new look packaging.
First, we work out the pagination: so what content needs to be included in the booklet and how it will flow.
Next, we populate the document with the section titles and flesh out the copy in as succinct a way as possible.
Then, we drop in the images so that they align with the copy.
Before sending the document off to the client for review and feedback, we check the formatting and triple check the spelling.
With the client’s feedback in hand, we make any necessary changes and prepare the document for printing (if it’s going to the printers to be made into a hard copy) or 2 digital versions (if it’s just for digital use), one that’s web-ready, one that’s higher res.
This is a brand booklet designed for The Makerie Ceramics: all images and copy by yours truly, layout and design by the amazing Cheyney McDonnell from Design by Cheyney.
This is a fold out we created for Gruff. Images and copy were shot by Shout & Co. with the layout and design by Cheyney from Design by Cheyney.
This is an eBook created for Biddy + May (one of our first clients - who’s still with us to this day!). As part of this project, we also created a newsletter sign up which included a mock up of the eBook subscribers would receive when they signed up to get the Biddy + May newsletter.
eBooks are a fantastic tool to grow your subscriber database - give value in return for an email address!
We don’t just create brand books for our clients, we create them for Shout & Co. too! We wanted to give potential clients a booklet that they could take away with them which detailed what Shout & Co. is all about. We also included a pocket at the back of the booklet where we could add business cards (and other branded materials). When we do presentations and workshops, this brand booklet comes with us too for attendees to take away with them.
