Reel Ideas: for product and service-based businesses

We all love watching Reels, but it’s a different story when it comes to actually creating them…

But for many of us, the hard part isn’t so much putting them together (that’s the fun bit!), but actually coming up with an engaging concept that your audience will love (and hopefully help you go viral).

So if you’re reading this and thinking “YES THAT’S ME!”, keep reading. We’ve jotted down a heap of Reel ideas for both product and service-based businesses, so all you have to do is find one you love (and keep the others in your back pocket for when you need more inspiration), and make it happen!

REEL IDEAS FOR PRODUCT-BASED BUSINESSES

  • Show your best selling product: a simple to-camera showcase will do the trick

  • Behind the scenes peek: give a view into your process (without revealing your secret sauce!)

  • Your workspace: do a little whip around of your store / workspace / office / studio

  • A day in the life: give your audience a view of how a normal day unfolds for you

  • Show off your new display: just created a beautiful window display? Make a Reel out of it

  • Coming soon: everyone loves a little teaser

  • Last of the best sellers: let people know when stock is running low to encourage them to get their orders in

  • Montage of user-generated content: getting tagged in some rad content your shoppers have created featuring your product? Create a fun montage out of it

  • Mundane: have something funny or inspiring to say but scared to say it directly to camera? Simply film yourself doing something mundane and lay your text over it. Just make sure the video is shorter than the time required to read the text so that viewers have to watch the Reel a couple of times to finish reading (this should help your views count which in turn, helps your reach)

  • Share reviews: screenshot your reviews and add it over a video of the relevant product in use

  • Intro your team: if you have a few people in your team, why not introduce them to your audience?

  • Educate: share a snippet of product-specific information with your audience that will inspire and educate. This is especially handy when you have various tips on how you can use your products or a little known benefit of one of your ingredients

REEL IDEAS FOR SERVICE-BASED BUSINESSES

  • How to: share how easy it is to book an appointment / work with you / find out more etc

  • Educate: showcase your expertise and knowledge by sharing a snippet of information that positions you as the go-to expert in your field

  • Intro your team: share the broader team that keeps your business in business

  • Behind the scenes peek: what can you share with your audience that gives them an idea of how your business works behind the scenes?

  • Your office / studio: do a little workspace shout out

  • A day in the life: give your audience a view of what a normal day looks like for you / your team members

  • Mundane: Get footage of you doing something mundane (like typing your computer or writing in your notebook) and lay a quote or anecdote over it

  • Share reviews: we love 5 star reviews so repurpose them into content that you can use in your next Reel

  • Your next photoshoot: getting some headshots done (with us, obvs…)? Get some footage of your shoot and share the final images at the end of your Reel

Reels don’t need to be shot on a fancy camera, heavily edited and long-winded to be effective. In fact, we’re seeing more success with Reels that have been shot organically on an iPhone, hardly edited and between 3 - 7 seconds.

But if you’re needing help with creating content for your biz, book a FREE 30 minute Discovery Call with us. From there, we can either book in a strategy session where we can develop and flesh out some content ideas for your business, or create them for you so you don’t have to!
